Branding is so crucial in the start up phase of a company. Your brand is the first thing potential clients see. Before they really even notice your services or products, their first impression is how they perceive you as a brand. That’s just how the human brain works. What you make them feel and what their eyes see are the initial factors to get them hooked.
Not only is branding all about first impressions, it’s about being cohesive and consistent. Think about it. All the big name brands are extremely recognizable. They have a distinct style to every piece of content out there in the world. Usually, it’s a simple design and concept, but the consistency is what makes it so popular and easy to recognize.
So here’s why having a solid and cohesive brand is important for you as a small business. Let’s say a potential customer sees you on Instagram. You could be a local restaurant on their feed. And then let’s say this same person searches local restaurants on Yelp. Instinctively, they will be attracted to you if they recognize the logo from earlier that day on Instagram. Humans like familiarity. It makes us comfortable. Even if they don’t actually remember seeing your ad on Instagram earlier, their subconscious does. And boom you probably got them. That’s only if your fonts, colors, logos and language are all consistent across the board.
Whatever your "thing" is, stick with it. Consistency is key in case i didn't make that clear already (lol).
Now that you’ve realized how important branding is (and how annoying I am), don’t be shy to dive in and create. Branding isn’t this scary, big marketing concept for professionals. It’s quite easy. All it comes down to are colors, words, graphics and ideas you use to represent your company. A strong brand doesn’t have to be anything elaborate or genius, it just has to be cohesive.
