This is from 2016!
This weekend was a rad one for sure. I did a backpacking trip up in NorCal about an hour north of Santa Cruz. It was the Skyline to the Sea Trail which is a total of 31 miles that starts in the mountains and ends at the beach (Waddel Beach). We started out at Castle Rock and trekked about 12 miles up the mountain for our first day. The views were sick!!!!
The second day was beautiful. It was an 11 mile trek through the redwoods! The hike this day was mostly downhill which was a little rough on the feet (blisters to the max). Thankfully most of the trail was shaded due the the gigantic trees. Our camp for that night was under the redwoods (how sick is that?).
After another 13 miles you end at Waddel Beach! The hike is a one way hike! We left two cars at the end of the trail so we could have transportation back. We drove one car to the start of the trail head so when we finished the hike we just drove back to the top to pick up the other car. Another option would be to have someone drop you off at the top and pick you up at the bottom.
This backpacking trip requires permits! Make sure you are prepared before you start this hike! Learn all about it here!
